RIP the very beautiful and talented Amal Kenawy.

Kenawy (1974-2012) was an Egyptian artist whose mixed media work on the body politic played on the tension between feminism and the revulsion of the female form. Like Alina Szapocznikow, whom I’ve posted about here, Kenawy’s mortality-centric and materially conscious idiom foreshadowed her untimely death. She leaves behind a young son.
